Upon completing his education, he worked for his father, a trader in oranges. With some savings, he tried his hand at some construction jobs, tendering for JKR jobs mainly small ones.
Later on, Ting moved from fulfilling small jobs to building schools and houses for plantation workers.
1967 He started his business in Miri, then moved to Sibu. Today he operates from Kuching, Sarawak.
1977 He formed Woodhouse Sendirian Berhad.
