Description: "SOS VIOLENCES SEXUELLES was established in 1997 in order to respond to the numerous cases reported of rape, child abuse and incest, by a multidisciplinary team of professionals. The organisation now includes legal consultants, psychologists, doctors and field workers. SOS Violences Sexuelles provides psychological support to women and child victims of sexual abuse, and provides counselling to perpetrators in order to help them to avoid recidivism. The legal consultants provide legal support to abused victims and work to ensure that laws are enforced when sexual exploitation is reported. Representatives of SOS participate in national and international conferences on child sexual exploitation in order to gain increased knowledge of the issue and learn of the other's work on this issue. In addition to conducting research in this field, efforts have also been made in increasing awareness amongst Ivorians on sexual violence through various local media."
