-Partner of Former NSC General Disclosed Aliyev's Links with "Corrupted Austrian Police" and Islamic Militants

A new wave in the race for power in Kazakhstan was marked by sudden arrival of Adonis Derbas, a citizen of Canada, and his press-conference. Formerly he stayed in Dubai, hiding from his ex-business partner, the former son-in-law of the president of Kazakhstan, Rakhat Aliyev, who was convicted for kidnapping, tortures, murders and number of other crimes.


A. Derbas?s arrival on the 5th of January stroke another hard blow at Aliyev, the ex-Major-General of the National Security Committee (NSC), the former ambassador of Kazakhstan in several European states, who escaped to Austria in 2007. It should be mentioned that absent ?evidences? of Derbas became the basis for the Vienna court in ?legal? declining Aliyev?s extradition to Kazakhstan.

Today Aliyev is one of the key levers in the attempts of certain Western (and not only Western) countries to destabilize the situation in the Republic of Central Asia that is a large energy importer. It seems that this former NSC leader has allies in various branches of power that keep in touch with him and are trying their best to break the strike in extraditing him from Vienna.

Though several Western newspapers are waging a PR-campaign aiming at turning Rakhat Aliyev into a ?dissident and reformer?, in fact he was convicted for the number of grave criminal and economic offenses and seems to having planned a coup in Kazakhstan. His methods of destabilization were and are various: economic frauds or elimination of opposition leaders making the government to blame for that. Besides, there are more and more proofs of his links with Islamic groups in the Middle East revealed.

Not only the authorities of Kazakhstan wage legal and information war with the runaway NSC general called a ?surgeon? for his cruelty and love for tortures. Nowadays the noncommercial association that brings together all his victims has recently become the main threat to Aliyev. The main reason of Adonis Derbas?s arrival at Kazakhstan is the invitation of the ?Tagdyr? (?Fate?) fund launched a week ago and aiming at denouncing and punishing a man who was involved in crimes for years using his position and his close ties with presidential family as a shield.

According to the RFE/RL, the fund was established and headed by Armangul Kapasheva, the wife of one of the well-known Kazakh bank managers, kidnapped and killed by Rakhat Aliyev?s order.

On Monday at the notorious press-conference Derbas revealed the fact of his ?absent evidence? forgery, thanks to which Rakhat Aliyev, convicted for extortion racket, kidnapping, tortures and murders in Kazakhstan, was saved from justice by the Austrian authorities. Having addressed the journalists of various newspapers, oppositional ones inclusive, Derbas mentioned that for unclear reasons Aliyev is patronized by the authorities of Vienna, while "the police chief of Vienna even pretended to be a ?Rakhat?s lawyer? in conversation with Adonis.

?I gave no evidence that were quoted in Vienna land court as a reason for declining extradition of that man in 2007. I was not present in the court at all! Some people visited me in the ?Marriot? hotel where I stayed, they talked to me, saying that they are the lawyers standing for Aliyev?s interests?, - highlighted Derbas at the press-conference.

To his mind the help of the Austrian police senior officials to Aliyev means that they were bribed, but not that it was a political choice of Vienna. Repotedly, Aliyev didn?t and doesn?t spare means in order to become ?legalized? in the Austrian society. Notably, it has become known that he sponsored the activity of the extreme right wing party of Jorg Haider. Many European top officials didn?t like that.

All facts of the kind are implicitly proved by the thing that the Austrian procuracy immediately invited Armangul Kapasheva to Vienna to discuss the possibility of reviewing the land court judgement that declined Aliyev?s extradition as soon as ?Tagdyr? was launched.

The authentic evidence of Adonis Derbas can become a winning factor in this issue and will make the hesitant Austrian Themis see this case in a new light. In this connection it?s relevant to remember another subject discussed in our last spread that evoked a wide response in ?certain? community. We mean the subject of close ties between Aliyev and Issam Khorani, a Palestinian resident of Lebanon, his companion in many projects and the husband of younger Aliyev?s sister Gulshat. Khorani and his team had been repeatedly deported from Kazakhstan for his links with Islamists, until Aliyev interceded for him. Khorani is a sponsor of various HAMAS activities, according to intelligence service. He is also in touch with the militants of Lebanese ?Hizballah? and ?Islamic Jihad?.

Throughout his interview Derbas, who for many years was the former partner of them both, kept mentioning Issam Khorani backing the Aliyev?s business right from the start. He also openly (though with caution) speaks of Khorani?s links with extremists. Moreover, he mentions a Syrian trace in general Aliyev?s case....
