A Department of Health spokesman said: "The Tamiflu-resistant virus has emerged in a group of particularly vulnerable individuals – this type of resistance is well documented. In other words, these patients are known to be at increased risk of developing resistance to the drug. Our strategy to offer antivirals to all patients with swine flu is the right one – both to help prevent complications and to reduce the severity of the illness. We are keeping the situation under review."
"The children have an influenza virus causing disease and then they get one of these common bacterial infections and it's very severe pneumonia on top. We've seen staph aureus and we've also seen the pneumococcus, but it's a bacteria that we have a good vaccine for, a vaccine that's good in children and high-risk adults" Schuchat said
An anonymous reader writes "Ever wondered how much the internet physically weighs? 498,438,559,990kg, according to CNET. To reach this figure, they added together public data on the weight of every computer, server and connecting cable. To this they added 6,075,000kg of iPhones, and over 6,800,000kg of Blackberries. Finally, they added the weight of 287,524 viruses and 85 billion+ webpages."
