Cassidy says it was a communications error and the website has since changed its report. He adds, a report of an earthquake in the area was unusual. "Yellowknife is not susceptible to earthquakes, it's very very rare, exceedingly rare to see earthquakes in this region. These are some of the oldest rocks on earth and some very stable rocks. We do see earthquakes in the Northwest Territories, but they tend to occur along the Mackenzie Mountains-Richardson Mountains."
